Best of KC 2026: A Healing at Harry’s Bar & Tables

Earlier this month, we published The Pitch’s annual Best of Kansas City issue. You can take a peek at the results of the readers’ poll here. The issue also included a list, compiled and written by our editorial staff, of some local people, places, and things that we think make 2026 KC life feel like a winner. We’ll be publishing these online throughout June and July.

We were told to gatekeep this, but why conceal a wonderful thing? Harry’s Bar and Tables in little ol’ Westport has great Guinness pours and warm bowls of gumbo with a kick—with black pepper cracked over the bowl, Olive Garden style. It’s best served at the end of a night out.

With an array of other cajun menu items, and fresh options since the kitchen doesn’t have fryer, you can skip the Taco Bell Cantina and opt for one of the local service industry’s favorite spots.

“A dive bar with a suit jacket,” as one barkeep describes to me.
