Bernard Jackson, person of interest in Waldo rapes, accused of four rapes in the 1980s

Bernard Jackson, the man named as a person of interest in five recent rapes in the Waldo area, was charged Thursday with raping women between July 1983 and February 1984 in the Waldo and Armour Hill areas.

Jackson is charged with six counts of rape, five counts of sodomy and

four counts of robbery in Jackson County. If convicted, he faces 15 life sentences.

Jackson has not been charged in any of the recent Waldo rapes. Kansas City Police Chief Jim Corwin emphasized during a press conference yesterday afternoon that Jackson is considered a “person of

interest” in the Waldo rapes but has not been charged in any of those crimes; that investigation is ongoing.
