Benjamin Elliott accused of spray painting the ‘n-word’ on Mizzou statue

The University of Missouri seems to have a problem with racist pricks.  In the latest incident, an 18-year-old student was arrested for allegedly spray painting racist graffiti — including the “n-word” — on a campus statue outside of Hatch Hall.

Elliott is facing charges of second-degree property damage, but the charges could be upped to a felony hate crime. Our sister paper, the Riverfront Times, reports that Elliott allegedly spray painted the

slurs outside a dorm Friday night. A student discovered the graffiti around 3:15 a.m. and sent a text message to a residential coordinator, who didn’t get the message until the next morning.
