Ben Quayle, son of Dan, conscripts nieces for Yoder-style campaign ad

Kansas Republican Kevin Yoder likes to be seen with animals and children that aren’t in his care. Yoder, who is running for Congress, has featured a dog and nieces and nephews in campaign ads in an attempt to imply dependencies that do not exist.

Ben Quayle, congressional candidate and son of the former vice president Dan Quayle, pulled a similar stunt in Arizona. Quayle is pictured in a piece of campaign lit administering what looks like fatherhood to two darling girls who actually belong to his brother.

In the caption under the picture, Quayle says that he and his wife, Tiffany, live in the congressional district that he hopes to represent in the U.S. House (always a plus). “[W]e are going to raise our family here,” the caption says.

The photograph makes it appear as though the family raisin’ has begun already. But the Quayles, who wed in April, have not reproduced.Vernon Parker, one of Quayle’s opponents in the Republican primary, accused the 33-year-old of “renting a family” before backing off the comment. A Quayle spokeswoman says the photograph is a non-story.
