Behind the Veil
Everyone knows that Saudi Arabia isn’t at the fore when it comes to women’s rights. American author T.L. McCown knows this from personal experience. During the decade that she lived in Saudi Arabia, McCown and the princess she worked for tried to improve conditions for their Saudi sisters. McCown writes about those efforts in her second book, Creating Shamsiyah: Empowering the Saudi Feminist Movement. Tonight at 7, McCown speaks about her experiences in a free presentation on the University of Kansas campus at Oread Books (Level 2 of the Kansas Union, 1301 Jayhawk Boulevard in Lawrence).
