As the Big 12 Crumbles: Big Ten giving Missouri the ‘cold shoulder’? Nebraska and Colorado out? (updated)

Update IV (3:13 p.m. June 10): KCTV 5 is reporting that Texas and Texas A&M want in the Big Ten and Oklahoma is trying to get in the SEC.  So Texas Tech, Baylor and Oklahoma State may be left behind (although Okie State may still be Pac-10 bound).

Meanwhile, the guy who has been all over the story, Chip Brown of Orangebloods.com, just put out this Twitter update: “There’s a Kansas City TV report

saying Texas and A&M to the Big Ten. That would be news to those

schools.”

Brown is plugged in at Texas and hasn’t missed yet, so we’ll see if the KCTV 5 report is accurate.

Update III
(12:57 p.m. June 10): This is getting awkward. The latest Twitter update from the Columbia Daily Tribune‘s Missouri football writer, Dave Matter, reads, “#Mizzou is circulating an

email to campus officials reminding them to tell media: “We are proud

members of Big 12 Conference.”

Update II (11:45 a.m. June 10): Colorado is officially gone. The Pac-10’s Web site announced the Buffaloes would become the conference’s eleventh member. Keep reading for quotes

“This is an historic moment for the Conference, as the Pac-10 is

poised for tremendous growth. The University of Colorado is a great fit

for the Conference both academically and athletically and we are

incredibly excited to welcome Colorado to the Pac-10,” said Commissioner

Larry Scott.

A press conference is scheduled for noon on Friday.

Update I (11:05 a.m. June 10): ESPN is reporting that Colorado could announce its move to the Pac-10 as early as today.

Also, Missouri curator Warren K. Erdman told the Star that Missouri hasn’t been invited to the Big Ten.

Original story (9:32 a.m. June 10): The Missouri Tigers could be left behind in the conference realignment. The latest, always changing report, has Missouri on the outside of Big Ten expansion.
