Art, Tea, History

Berneice Williams-Little has been creating oil paintings for just five years, but don’t you dare call her a beginner: She’s 81 years old, and her vibrant personality is reflected in her colorful artwork. The paintings by this retired nurse, artist and poet will be featured in the 20th-Annual Art Exhibition, hosted by the Strawberry Hill Museum and Cultural Center (720 North Fourth Street) in the ethnically diverse Strawberry Hill neighborhood of Kansas City, Kansas. New works by Rachel Mindrup and Emil Mufich are also represented in the art show, which runs through July 26. The museum — a 19th-century mansion that was turned into a Catholic orphanage for most of the 20th century — is open only on Saturdays and Sundays, from noon to 5 p.m. (The museum is closed Mother’s Day.) Tour the building, which boasts a chapel, a gift shop and a tea room, among other attractions. For more information, call 913-371-3264 or see strawberryhillmuseum.org.
