Art in a Bottle

It’s hard to find someone who shares your exact taste in art. But there may be a way for devotees of the Kemper and Nelson-Atkins museums to find common ground when the second annual Artist Series Wine Event returns to the Capital Grille (4740 Jefferson, 816-531-8345). This year, the venerable steakhouse is selling a Cabernet created by Thomas Peffer, from Atalon Winery in Napa Valley. He worked with Capital Grille master sommelier George Miliotes to design a vintage with what Capital Grille describes as “ripe fruit flavors and prominent tannin.” Fewer than 1,000 cases were bottled. The Capital Grille will donate $25 from each bottle sold to Share Our Strength, a nonprofit working to feed hungry children in America. Collectors might be drawn to the limited-edition bottle, with its image by Florida artist Patricia Timbrook, but even for art aficionados, the beauty might be on the tongue rather than in the eye of the beholder.
