Apocalypse Meow 12 is this Friday and Saturday night
For its twelfth iteration, the annual Apocalypse Meow benefit for Midwest Music Foundation has switched things up a bit. The first night of the event to raise money for Abby’s Fund For Musicians’ Health Care will take place as usual at Mills Record Company on Friday, November 1, and will feature Chris Meck & The Second Sons and The Sluts.
Night two, on Saturday, November 2, has been moved from RecordBar to Drexel Hall. (This is itself a change from the initially announced switch to The Mulberry Room.) This show includes performances from Shy Boys, Nublvckcity, Slights, Jesus Loves the Atom Bomb, AP, Kristie Stremel, and Anna Cole and the Other Lovers.
Also on Saturday at Drexel Hall, the University of Kansas Medical Center’s RockDocs will be offering a pop-up clinic with free flu shots and colon cancer screening test kits, as well as medical consultations and screenings from 6-10 p.m. Physical therapist Bill Rogers, an Orthopedic and Geriatric Clinical Specialist, will “consult and help triage musculoskeletal problems,” along with licensed acupuncturist Sara Koron, who has “a sampling of services from her practice, Sunrise Acupuncture Studio,” according to MMF’s executive director, Rhonda Lyne. And Truman Medical Centers, the Linwood YMCA/James B. Nutter, Sr. Community Center, Narcotics Anonymous, and Get Your Rear in Gear will all be running information tables.
Apocalypse Meow 12 takes place this Friday, November 1, with a free show at Mills Record Company. The main event is Saturday, November 2, at Drexel Hall. Details on both nights here.
