Another principal bites the dust at troubled Southwest Early College Campus

Yesterday, another Southwest Early College Campus principal threw his deuces up. Ben Boothe, the third principal to take over Southwest this year, announced that he’s leaving at year’s end to work on his doctorate, focus on his family and possibly take a job at an elementary school in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Whoa, hey, Mr. Boothe — any one of those excuses would have sufficed. When the Kansas City, Missouri, School District saw fit to shutter Westport High and mash its scary, urban students in with Southwest’s preppy achievers, they created a monster. Now, Southwest is running through principals like Charlie Sheen runs through porn stars.
