Another Chinese buffet bites the dust

You might say 2012 wasn’t a particularly great year for Chinese-style buffets in the metro. Two of them have closed in the last two months, including the Royal Buffet & Grill in Overland Park, which opened in the old Fuddruckers building last June and was shuttered by November.

This week, Peter Nguyen, the owner of the 11-year-old Oriental Feast restaurant at 1000 West 39th Street, turned over the keys of the venue to his landlord, Greg Patterson, of Greg Patterson & Associates. Patterson is actively looking for a new tenant. The building was originally constructed as a Ponderosa Steakhouse, but for most of the last 20 years has operated as a Chinese buffet restaurant by several restaurateurs.
