Anonymous targets Westboro Baptist Church over plans to protest at Sandy Hook Elementary

We live in a strange world. Anonymous – the hacker collective that has made headlines for its cyber protests – has now apparently targeted the Westboro Baptist Church for a protest planned in Newtown, Connecticut. In the wake of tweets from WBC members announcing their intentions to protest at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Anonymous has gone on the offensive [h/t Cnet].
Over the weekend, hackers claiming to be part of Anonymous released the contact information and home addresses for members of the church and a video that pledged further action to disrupt the church’s strategy of high-profile protests. The Twitter account for church spokeswoman Shirley Phelps-Roper has since been hacked.
“We have unanimously deemed your organization to be harmful to the United States of America,” states a computer-modulated voice in the video, “and have therefore decided to execute an agenda of action which will progressively dismantle your institution.”
Is anyone right in this battle between protest groups?
