Anonymous members want to ‘kill’ Facebook on November 5
Remember, remember the fifth of November. Members of the hacker group Anonymous plan to destroy Facebook on November 5 — Guy Fawkes Day. Go figure, because many of Anonymous’ members wear Fawkes masks a la V for Vendetta. The video announcing the planned attack cites privacy concerns as well as the social network’s selling of information to government agencies and security firms.
“You cannot hide from the reality in which you, the people of the internet, live in,” the Stephen Hawking sounding voice says in the video. “Facebook is the opposite of the Antisec cause. You are not safe from them nor from any government. One day you will look back on this and realise what we have done here is right, you will thank the rulers of the internet, we are not harming you but saving you.”
