Anne McCue

In the past two years, Anne McCue has toured extensively with both Heart and Lucinda Williams. Though she speaks twang fluently, McCue shares more common ground with the Wilson sisters’ raucous riffs. McCue’s magic hands go crazy on the strings, especially during the cover of Jimi Hendrix’s “Machine Gun” that caps her recent release Roll. An Australian native, McCue played in the Down Under group Rock Monstar before kick-starting her solo career with Lilith Fair appearances. In concert, McCue is blues belter (her showstopping Bessie Smith covers make her a hard act to follow) and country crooner (Roll opens with a poignant, Williams-assisted Johnny Cash tribute). Above all, though, she’s a guitar goddess, infusing high-voltage electricity into her well-crafted, melodic material.
