AND JUSTICE FOR ALL

One can’t accuse the inaugural Show Me Social Justice International Film Festival of a dearth of ambition. Presented in Warrensburg, Missouri, the festival’s slate of 135 shorts, features and documentaries from around the world is merely a jumping-off point. Other highlights include a Missouri Artisans Showcase and a Back Lot Vendors Showcase, plus a wine- and food-tasting event and an awards ceremony. Films screen from noon to 6 p.m., leading up to the 7 p.m. red-carpet premiere screening of the Sundance-anointed Winter’s Bone. Screenings continue 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Sunday’s featured speaker is Peter Loth, who was born in a Nazi concentration camp. He recounts his remarkable journey to a life-changing moment of forgiveness in 2002. Festival passes range from $60 to $425, while regular admission to individual screenings is $8. For a schedule and details, see showmefilmfest.org.
