American Waste: two days of hardcore and metal in KCMO, June 6 and 7

Well, the hippies around these parts lost their annual festival when Wakarusa moved to Arkansas. But local metalheads now have a reason to rejoice. On June 6 and 7, the Beaumont Club will host a two-day hardcore and metal fest that’s sure to wreak some major aural damage. Consider American Waste a sort of regional Ozzfest, featuring more than 30 of the heaviest riffers from Kansas City, Lawrence and slightly beyond. Line-up highlights: Testament, Coalesce, Unearth, Eyes of the Betrayer, Hammerlord, Blinding Light, 100 Years War, Snake Eater and At the Left Hand of God. Organizers say they’ll make the event annual if it succeeds.
