American Movie

Pulitzer Prize-winning film critic Roger Ebert curates the annual Off-the-Wall Film Series, presenting a cross section of his favorite films called EbertfestKC. Low-budget filmmaker Mark Borchardt is the subject of American Movie, a humorous and heartbreaking documentary that revolves around his 35-minute horror flick called Coven. Ebert’s review: “Borchardt is the embodiment of a lonely, rejected, dedicated artist. No poet in a Paris garret has ever been more determined to succeed.”
