Alphonso Pankey found shot to death inside Gillham Park; 33 homicides in KCMO

UPDATE: Kansas City police say the victim of Saturday morning’s homicide is 26-year-old Alphonso Pankey.

Original Story: Kansas City’s homicide total for 2011 climbed to 33 over the weekend. A man was found shot to death in the parking lot of Gillham Park at 41st and Kenwood around 1:02 a.m. Saturday.

The victim, who hasn’t been named, is described as a black male in his 20s.
