Albert Riederer has died at the age of 67

The Kansas City Star is reporting that Albert Riederer died of cancer early this morning. He was 67.

Riederer, a former Jackson County prosecutor and legislator, ran for mayor in 2007 (finishing third behind Alvin Brooks and the eventual winner, Mark Funkhouser). He had a long legal career in the city.

A political force involved in the Save our Stadiums and Kansas City Zoo expansion campaigns, Riederer was also a judge on Missouri’s Western District Court of Appeals. He’s survived by his wife, Jackson County Circuit Judge Sandra Midkiff.
