After Tune-Yards cancels, things get interesting with Buke and Gass and Here We Go Magic at the Jackpot on Friday night

You heard correctly. Tune-Yards didn’t make the Jackpot show Friday evening. Merrill Garbus canceled because of a family emergency (at least that’s what I think one of Here We Go Magic’s band members said). The show was still just as quirky without Garbus’ crazy tuneage, though.

The first set was experimental and jammy. Really jammy. Two young men (I’m assuming from Lawrence) took the stage around 10:30 p.m. One guy jammed on his guitar while the other man beat out some, well, beats. Their jam created a storm cloud of sound that materialized and dissipated in 20 minutes.
