After Hauling In Cueto And Zobrist, Royals Poised For Big August En Route To Postseason

The Kansas City Royals were picked by many to be a World Series contender before the 2015 MLB season started, and here they are past the midway point, with the second best record in baseball, not to mention while towering over the rest of the American League. The Royals have impressively won 63 games and taken complete command of the AL Central (next closest team is 9.5 games back), even despite not having injured Alex Gordon for the past month, but a balanced attack on both sides of the ball has paced them to their notable success.

With ace pitcher Johnny Cueto and utility man Ben Zobrist added to the mix at the trade deadline, the Royals just might be on their way to finish what they started a season ago, when they painfully came up just one game short in the World Series. As tremendous as KC’s 2015 run has been, however, fans are still getting ridiculous value when it comes to Kansas City Royals tickets. Looking at the rest of the regular season schedule, fans have to pay barely over $62 on average, which has to be surprising for one of the better fanbases in the game today.

The value can really be seen this month, when just five games top $98 and zero games top $122 on average. To get a better idea of the value KC fans are enjoying, let’s take a look at the cheapest and most expensive Royals games in August:

Cheapest – 8/18/2015 @ Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park | Avg: $32 | Get-in: $3

Kansas City Royals tickets are at their cheapest when they visit the Reds on August 18, when fans can get in for as little as $3. That’s not even value – that’s a steal, as this is an extremely rare Interleague matchup. Cincinnati isn’t a playoff contender, but they pack a serious punch with plenty of legitimate power, boasting the likes of Todd Frazier, Joey Votto, and Jay Bruce. That’s why tickets to see the Reds usually offer great value. This particular game could especially clock in as the steal of the year if Cueto, who led Cincinnati’s pitching rotation for so many years, is given the assignment to toe the rubber in this one. It should be an emotional return to Cincy for the star pitcher, even if he doesn’t start in this series.

Most Expensive – 8/15/2015 VS. Los Angeles Angels at Kauffman Stadium | Avg: $109.27 | Get-in: $25

Kansas City’s actual “priciest” game comes at Tropicana Field on August 30 against the Rays ($121.16 on average, $15 to get in), but nothing screams value like their August 15 date with the Angels at home. Mike Trout and Co. march into Kauffman Stadium and Royals tickets still barely top $109 on average, with the cheap seats also being a respectable $25. It’s tough to find better value than this, even with the ticket price being a tad steep. The Angels have one of the more powerful offensive squads in baseball and figure to be quite the challenge. They’ll also be out for revenge, after getting swept in an earlier series opposite Kansas City. Oh, and let’s not forget it was the Royals who swept them out of the ALDS a season ago on their way to the World Series. A rivalry could be building here between these two top AL contenders.
