ACLU May Get Involved in Justus Drugstore Case

By OWEN MORRIS

The ACLU of Kansas & Western Missouri‘s board is meeting tonight to discuss representing Jonathan Justus, owner of Justus Drugstore in the case brought against him by the Missouri Board of Pharmacy.

Justus received a cease and desist letter for the use of the word drugstore in his restaurant name, and the ACLU recently contacted him to say the organization might be interested in picking up his case.

Justus said that there’s been some discussion in the ACLU over whether or not to file on behalf of a commercial business but that even if the ACLU declines to do so, ACLU of Kansas & Western Missouri President Bill Raney and fellow ACLU member Steven Streen will accept the case pro-bono. The goal Justus said is to resolve this as soon as possible.
