According to Fenway Ticket King, Red Sox Tickets the Most Expensive Home Opener This Year
Baseball is finally back to Kauffman Stadium as the Kansas City Royals will host the Chicago White Sox in their home opener at 3:05pm. Jeremy Guthrie will be on the bump for the Royals, making his first start of the season, going up against Erik Johnson of the White Sox. The Royals are looking for their first win of the season today, after dropping the first two games to the Detroit Tigers and then having yesterday’s game postponed due to inclement weather.
The White Sox, meanwhile, took two of three against the Minnesota Twins in their home opening series with Chris Sale pitching a gem in the home opener to win 5-3. They then won Wednesday night 7-6 in 11 innings before finally succumbing to the Twins yesterday, 10-9. Johnson, John Danks, and Chris Sale will be on the mound this weekend, so it certainly will not be an easy series for the Royals to get their first victory.
If you’re looking to attend today’s game, tickets are still available, beginning for as low as $69. The average ticket price is $136, which is one of the higher priced games today. According to Fenway Ticket King, Red Sox tickets have an average ticket price of $323 with a get-in of $133, taking the cake for most expensive home opener this season.
If you’re looking to save some money and watch the Royals this weekend, tomorrow and Sunday’s games are the way to go. The average ticket price for tomorrow is $49 with a get-in price of only $14, while Sunday’s game is even cheaper, with an average ticket price of $40 and a get-in of $8. For a little over twenty bucks, you’d be able to see both games this weekend.
