Accidental Metallica

Michigan’s the Swellers had an intriguing accident at the pressing plant last week. They got their test pressing back from the plant for the Welcome Back Riders 7″ they released on Fueled By Ramen and Paper + Plastick this month, and there seemed to be a bit of a mix-up:
“When you get a test pressing, you need to listen to all of the songs to approve it, then they go on to make the rest of your vinyl.
Side A was awesome, the song sounded great. Then we flipped it, put the needle on, then heard applause… we didn’t have that on our song. Then we hear “I am iron man” …what the fuck?
We then realized, it was Metallica covering the song “Iron Man” by Black Sabbath on both copies of the 7″ instead of our song “Montreal Screwjob”. We even looked at the etching on the vinyl, one side said the swellers, other had a release listing with MET00 then the number of the release.”
Whether this means Metallica will be pressing some sort of “Iron Man” single remains to be seen…but what could have been, eh? I’ve got a couple LPs with the labels on the wrong side, but never have I gotten anything quite this cool. Test pressings are usually boring as shit, too — white label, handwritten information, plain white sleeve. Bleh. I don’t understand why the kids flip out over them so much. Collector scum, I guess.
