A Dogfish Head clam bake at Happy Gillis, a new Hawaiian shaved-ice shop opens in Liberty, Boulevard’s Rec Center expands its hours, and more: food and drink events, May 22-28

Wednesday, May 24

Lots of beer options tonight: First, No Other Pub (1370 Grand) is hosting a beer-and-bites event downtown from 6 to 9 p.m., featuring Boulevard Brewing Company beers. For $20 (tickets here), you get to sample four beers (Tank 7, Pale Ale, Hibiscus Gose and the Changeling) paired with small bites: brined chuck roast with the Tank 7, for example, and a Hibiscus Gose-soaked caramel apple with vanilla sea salt.

If you’re after more than bites, try Happy Gillis (549 Gillis Street), which is getting into the spirit of summer with a clam bake — accompanied by Dogfish Head. Beers on hand will include the new-to-KC brewer’s Sea Quench, Saison du Buff , Namaste White, Midas Touch, Beer to Drink Music To ’17 and Super Secret Nightcap. The dinner is $75 a person, not including tax or gratuity. Call 816-471-3633 for reservations.

Border Brewing Company (406 East 18th Street) is debuting its Session New England IPA from 4 to 9 tonight at its tasting room in the Crossroads.

If being in the kitchen is more your style, Vom Fass (515 Nichols Road) is hosting a free class from 7 to 8 tonight. The topic: olive and nut oils and vinegars. Learn to make (and sample) various salads and slaws. Register for the class here.

Thursday, May 25

New summer hours begin tonight at Boulevard Brewing Company’s tour and rec center (2501 Southwest Boulevard). The doors will now be open until 9 p.m., and to fete the beginning of summer, Boulevard has paired with the Sundry tonight to offer soda shandy selections. Try lemon-cardamom soda with American Kolsch, or basil-mint ginger ale with Heavy Lifting IPA. Fourteen-ounce pours will be $6.

Friday, May 26

Lilo’s Shaved Ice and Sodas (8300 North Oxford Street, Liberty) holds its grand opening tonight. The first 25 customers will enjoy their treats for free, and the menu is 50 percent off for everyone from 6 to 8 p.m, with the shop open until 10. Lilo’s offers a variety of fancy sodas and 30 flavors of premium Hawaiian-style shaved ice, including “stuffed” shaved ice (there’s vanilla, coconut or coconut pineapple ice cream in there).

Saturday, May 27

Amigoni Vineyards and Urban Winery (1505 Genessee Street) is throwing a party today to celebrate its five years in the Daily Drovers Telegram Building, in the West Bottoms. From 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., the parking lots on either side of the building will be turned into a wine garden of sorts with picnic tables and outdoor bars; expect lawn games (cornhole, giant Jenga). Perhaps most important, it’s also releasing a new wine today: Telegram 5, a blend of cabernet sauvignon, cinsaut and petit verdot that has been aged in Missouri oak barrels for a year. The event is free.
