Dee Wallace on healing, horror and Rob Zombie’s new movie
Actress Dee Wallace — a native of Kansas City, Kansas — gets back to her hometown a couple of times a year, usually quietly for family visits (her younger brother and stepfather still live here) or to teach an acting class or to host a healing seminar. It’s been more than two decades since she performed at Starlight Theatre, and she did Hay Fever at Johnson County Community College 10 years ago.
But Wallace still has star power: She plays a witch in the upcoming Rob Zombie film The Lords of Salem (“Rob wrote the part for me,” says Wallace, who was featured in Zombie’s 2007 remake of Halloween) and her best-known screen role, the mother in E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrialgets renewed interest this year when a 30th anniversary Blu-Ray disc is released in October.
Later this month, Wallace will be in Kansas City to promote all of her projects: E.T., The Lords of Salem, her webcast videos and healing workshops, and to sign photographs — for a fee — at Crypticon KC 2012, held at the Ramada Inn (1601 North Universal Avenue) August 24-26.
