Waifs of the Week: Emberly, Chili, and a cat named Gandalf
Waifs of the Week is a collaboration between The Pitch and the local animal shelter Wayside Waifs. Over at 3901 Martha Truman Road, this ‘no kill’ shelter is constantly working to find loving homes for animals, including dogs, cats, and a host of other intriguing additions to your family.
If you’re not in a position to adopt but want to help out with the cause, or just spend more time with furry friends, several members of The Pitch team volunteer at Wayside and we cannot overstate how stellar that process has been for our own brain chemistry.

Chili
I am a very shy girl who was rescued from a puppy mill. I am learning what it means to be a dog and building my confidence level. I am looking for a patient family who will give me plenty to time to feel safe and settle into a new home and routine. Because I didn’t receive much socialization when I was young, I am still learning about the world around me. I will need a lot of help learning the basisc of home life. I also need to go home with another dog that is willing to show me the ropes. I have made a lot of progress since coming to Wayside and I know with a supportive and patient family I will blossom into a more confident dog. I enjoy interacting with other dogs and enjoy playgroup time once I warm up. Meet me today at Wayside Waifs!

Greetings, traveler! My name is Gandalf, and I’m a 1-year-old grey and white gentleman on a quest to find my forever home! Now, I’ll be honest…. stepping into a new environment can make me feel a bit conflicted at first. A wise cat knows to survey the landscape before diving in! But once I warm up and realize I’m safe and comfortable, my true personality shines through, and I transform into an absolute sweetie. I love playing with wand toys (I’ll gladly leap into action to catch that feather ribbon for you!) and spending quality time with my favorite humans. I’ll admit, I can be a teeny bit clingy at times…ok, maybe a lot clingy… but that’s just because I adore my people so much! If you’re looking for a devoted companion to stick by your side, keep you entertained, and shower you with affection, I’m your guy. Are you ready to begin our next great adventure together?
