The music video, now in the final stages of post-production, will be released later this year.

The Royal Chief made headlines last month as the first musical opener for the KC Current. He kicked off in front of 11,500 fans, performing his love letter to the team, “Teal Town.” Now, local videographer Joseph Termini is capturing the hype for everyone at home.

If you have lived in Kansas City or are familiar with the Chiefs’ dark magic, you probably know Tech N9ne’s Kansas City anthem, ‘Red Kingdom’. Unlike other team anthems (looking at you, Lil Wayne’s ‘Green & Yellow’), this bop has persisted.

Last year, the KC Current decided it was their turn to tap into the zeitgeist.

KC hip-hop mainstay, The Royal Chief, took on this challenge with “Teal Town.” Produced by Code Red, the song opens and closes with shouts of “KC, Baby” and “We’re on the way.” Whoever these infants are and wherever they’re headed, you may find yourself humming the tune. But outside KC Current fans and a brief February 2025 rollout, not many heard the bop.

Here, Termini believes he can help.

“I feel like this song has so much love and energy and community… The song deserved more,” Termini buzzes about his affiliation to the joint. Not contracted by KC Current, The Royal Chief, or other sponsors, Joseph Termini set out to match the ‘energy’ he felt with flashy, vibrant videography.

Like his work, Joseph Termini doesn’t shy away from the spotlight. His inviting, unabashed “What are we doing today?” can be heard almost every day on his Instagram as he chronicles his current project. For three years, Termini Media has provided social media videography to products, individuals, and companies across the metro area. Clients include Cafe Corazon, Ralph Lauren, and even Mahome’s Sports Drink.

“My style has always been over the top since the very beginning.” His eye-catching Instagram content features quick cuts, skewed angles, and a breakneck pace that match his authentic charm. “I’m doing what I love: creating art and telling stories. That’s the number one thing I love.” At just 19, he creates social media content for some of Kansas City’s biggest stars, business owners, and fans. That same personality caught the attention of KC Current and the Royal Chief.

“The Royal Chief was very supportive, very excited. He loved the idea,” explains Termini. That was enough to begin a year-long journey to elevate the USL anthem.

“I told him the vision: a community-based music video project to bring people together. I would use my connections to add lasting features and make it more impactful.” Soon after, in early 2025, the KC Current joined the project. With stadium credentials and a full list of hopeful participants, Joseph Termini set out to make the music video he thought Teal Town deserved.

Self-produced, directed, and edited, the music video focuses on the shared KC hometown spirit. As Chawinga and Hopkins light up the highlight reels, Termini turned to Kansas City royalty—the Chiefs—for an assist. Players such as Creed Humphreys, Trent McDuffie, Chu Goderich, and Xavier Worthy made appearances. Other family, friends, business owners, and prominent KC figures include: Mayor Quinton Lucas, Jo Blaq, Joey Cool, Ana Demmer, Chris Cabot, Laura Cabot, Nicky Jones, The Teal Man, and, of course, the Mahomes. “That is the last Infinity Stone,” Termini jokes. Randi Mahomes helped push the project to the finish line.

The music video, now in the final stages of post-production, is expected to be released later this year. Termini promises the wait will be worth it:

“The vision is to create something long-lasting for The Current, something that will grab people’s attention. I want it to be a proper representation of how badass it is to have a great USL team in our city.”
