Something New
News Bites: Clementine’s Ice Cream in Prairie Village has released a seasonal menu of flavors full of nods to Edgar Allen Poe. I’ve already spread the word to some of my gluten- and dairy-free friends about the Thing of Evil flavor, but the Midnight Dreary variety, with midnight dark chocolate ice cream and raspberry jam, is my pick. I’ve had a similar recipe from them before, and it was truly decadent.
Opening
Provis Coffee: North Kansas City has a new coffee joint, and it’s already got a few things that demonstrate green flags in a cafe. First, there’s no upcharge for alternative milks. Also, it is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. That’s ambitious for a new small business, but the consistency may pay off. Friday, September 25 is a soft-opening day, with an official opening on September 26.
Guy’s on Main: On the Streetcar line in downtown Kansas City, across the street from Gallup Map & Art Company and Bazookas, Guy’s on Main is now open as a bodega and four-seat bar.
Closing
Anton’s Taproom: Anton’s will be closed by the end of this week, according to KCTV5. The downtown KC restaurant offered extensive local meat dishes and tap selections since opening in 2012.

Ruby Jean’s Juicery: Start your day with some community service before brunch or catching one of the final two Royals games. Ruby Jean’s Foundation and the Ivanhoe Neighborhood Council invite you to a community cleanup of an illegal dump site at 39th & Wabash. Wear heavy-duty gloves and hard-soled shoes and meet at the Aldi parking lot (not Ruby Jean’s Juicery) at 8 a.m. for a couple hours of work, or as long as you can spare.
Café Corazón: In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, Café Corazón’s Crossroads location is putting on a high-energy CaféCITÓN event to celebrate Latino culture. From 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., stop by for danceworthy beats from DJ Astro, Latin-inspired brunch and drink selections, art, and more in the welcoming Café Corazón space.
Bourbon in the Park: Parkville’s Bourbon in the Park returns this weekend, making for a picturesque first fall weekend if bourbon is your thing. River Louraine has all the details on our site!
