Waifs of the Week: Cody, Juno, and a poodle named Calvin

Unnamed

Waifs of the Week is a collaboration between The Pitch and the local animal shelter Wayside Waifs. Over at 3901 Martha Truman Road, this ‘no kill’ shelter is constantly working to find loving homes for animals, including dogs, cats, and a host of other intriguing additions to your family.

If you’re not in a position to adopt but want to help out with the cause, or just spend more time with furry friends, several members of The Pitch team volunteer at Wayside and we cannot overstate how stellar that process has been for our own brain chemistry.

This column features three animals available today to meet with you and yours. Find these pets and many, many more over at the shelter’s website.

Hi, I’m Juno! I might play it a little shy when we first meet but give me just a few minutes and a sweet voice, and I warm up super quickly! Once I know you’re my person, my true colors shine through. Honestly? I’m the absolute life of the party! At 4 years young, I’ve perfected the art of being equal parts fun and affectionate. My favorite pastimes include hanging out by your side, collecting endless belly rubs, and testing out any delicious treats you happen to have on hand. Once I trust you, I am your most loyal, silly, and loving companion. I do have one quick requirement before I pack my bags: I must meet any potential doggie siblings before going home with you to make sure we’re the ultimate dream team. If you have a little patience and a lot of belly rubs to give, I’d love to meet you. I can’t wait to show you just how much fun we’re going to have!

Purrs to meet you! I’m Cody, adorable and sweet – ready for a loving home. Like most kittens, I am a bundle of fun in a small package and I am so ready for a new family to call my own. Kittens are so much fun and boy do we love to play! I will need some work on training but we will have a lot of fun along the way. Being such a youngster I will definitely need both physical and mental stimulation to help me stay well rounded. Give me some fun and interactive toys in the mix and we will have the time of our lives! I think I should also tell you that I love to cuddle. Curl up with me and I will purr to show you just how happy I am; cuddles are my favorite! If you are looking for a new buddy to bring you smiles and cheer then look no further! Meet me today at Wayside Waifs!

CALVIN

Hi there, I’m Calvin… I’m a 5-year-old Miniature Poodle with a quiet heart and a soft soul. Coming from a puppy mill, the big wide world is still pretty new to me, so I’m working on building up my confidence every single day. Because I have a lot of catching up to do when it comes to life experience, I’m looking for a special, patient human who will go at my pace and help me feel safe. Could you be that person? While I tend to be a pretty independent guy who likes having my own space, don’t let my shy exterior fool you. Once I truly warm up to my people and learn that I can trust you, I actually really enjoy gentle pets and affection! It just takes a little extra time and understanding to unlock that side of me. If you’re ready to give a sweet, deserving boy the gentle second chance he needs, I’d love to meet you.
