Eat This Now: Goodness Bar at Sweet Tee’s Coffee Shop
When faced with an overwhelming number of emails to respond to, paperwork to fill out, or an exam to cram for, the required setting for focus is always a cozy cafe. For years, that cafe for me has been Sweet Tee’s: with warm-toned Christmas lights and mismatched couches to curl up on, this coffee shop is perfectly comfortable.
Tucked in the unassuming Crossroads Shopping Center strip mall in Olathe, this locally owned cafe has maintained an eclectic coffee shop feel since 2015. The menu boasts over 50 different flavor combinations… an overwhelming experience I remember from my first visit, if not for the friendly face waiting to take my order at the counter and suggest the popular raspberry tuxedo latte. The drink turned out to be an alluring mix of raspberry, white chocolate, and mocha. My first sip tasted like a warm hug and a crackling fireplace.
When dining in for work purposes, my latte comes in an Instagram-worthy mason jar if iced, or in a mug of my choice from the dozens lining the walls if ordered hot. I’ve had coffee from an Iowa Cyclones mug, an aquarium-themed mug, and even a “Best Dad” mug.
My go-to coffee pairing is the gooey, gluten-free goodness bar. Served on a colorful plate and drizzled with chocolate, this oat bar makes a wonderful studying incentive with its cocoa powder sweetness. This bar is like a no-bake cookie with coconut and peanut butter mixed together to make a mouth-watering bite. Other notable bakery items include zesty lemon bars, savory egg quiches packed with veggies, and a plethora of decadent pastries all made in-house.
To top off the comforting mood, the shop displays local artwork (available for purchase) on the walls, supporting area creators across several art styles. This offers a built-in excuse to take a study as you browse the community’s talent, mug in hand.
Sweet Tee’s is at 2063 East Santa Fe Street, Olathe, KS 66062.
