Spring semster of The Rebel Song Academy offers a program for student musicians to expand their skills
Attention, local musicians ages 13 to 20: applications for The Rebel Song Academy’s spring semester are now open. If you or someone you know wants to elevate their music, the program will be a hands-on guide from seasoned local musicians on how to take your current songs/music to the next step.
The Rebel Song Academy has opened applications for the Spring semester for more experienced young musicians in the Kansas City area. March 5 – May 28, this course offers mentorship and resources needed to elevate a meaningful project. Utilizing a professional recording studio, learning to master performing in front of live crowds, and understanding how artists release music in today’s world are some of the topics the Spring semester will offer. All genres are treated equally, but collaboration and curiosity are encouraged.
Spots in the program are not guaranteed; however, the organization behind the program, Art As Membership, also offers drop-in sessions by appointment to dip students’ toes in the musical waters—no experience needed. “The main idea of Rebel Song Academy and what we try to do is give a snapshot of what it is to be an artist and kind of show the whole lifecycle,” Art as Mentorship Program Director Brandon Yangmi says. Spots for the Spring semester are anticipated to fill up fast, so don’t wait to submit an application.
Don’t know any kids who could benefit from the Rebel Song Academy? You can also donate to the mission or support by attending shows. For instance, the Spring semester will culminate in Manor Fest, amplifying the next generation of voices in the community.
