Waifs of the Week: Snowball, Leo, and a camouflaged explorer named Risotto

Waifs of the Week is a collaboration between The Pitch and the local animal shelter Wayside Waifs. Over at 3901 Martha Truman Road, this ‘no kill’ shelter is constantly working to find loving homes for animals, including dogs, cats, and a host of other intriguing additions to your family.

If you’re not in a position to adopt but want to help out with the cause, or just spend more time with furry friends, several members of The Pitch team volunteer at Wayside and we cannot overstate how stellar that process has been for our own brain chemistry.

Risotto

Hiya, I’m Risotto!! People say my markings look just like camouflage, and honestly? I think it suits me. I’m an explorer at heart, always ready to blend into the trails, sniff out new paths, and take in every sight, sound, and smell around me. I’m an adventurous boy who would thrive with an active adopter; someone who loves getting outside as much as I do. Hiking? Yes. Long walks? Absolutely. Playtime in the yard? My favorite. I’m the type of dog who’s happiest when I’m moving, learning, and getting to discover all the fun the world has to offer. I am a Labrador after all! Snowball

Hi there, I’m Snowball! I’m an 11-year-old all-white beauty with a heart just as soft as my fur. I’m a social, affectionate girl who loves being around people and soaking up all the cuddles I can get. Whether we’re curling up on the couch together or enjoying a quiet afternoon nap, I’m happiest when I’m close to my favorite humans. Even though I’m friendly and outgoing, I do appreciate a calm, peaceful home where I can truly relax. A quiet environment helps me feel safe and content, and in return, I’ll fill your home with warmth, love, and plenty of purrs. Leo 

Hi, I’m Leo! I am a total lovebug that absolutely loves my people and staying close to them. However, I can be a little shy when I first meet someone… but that doesn’t last long because I love making new friends! My people say I’m one of the sweetest, most affectionate guys around, and I’m always happy to soak up belly rubs, head scratches, or just hang out close by. I also have a goofy, fun side… when the mood hits, don’t be surprised if I break into some super adorable zoomies! Some of my favorite things in the world? Playing with other dogs! I find a lot of comfort in having another dog around, so I must meet other dogs before going home, just to make sure we can be buddies. However, I’m alright being your one and only pup too! More love for me! Could you be my person?
