Four Inane Questions with My KC Live!’s Kerrigan Arnold and Shane Konicki
If Kansas City weekday mornings feel a little brighter these days, you can thank My KC Live! co-hosts Shane Konicki and Kerrigan Arnold—the dynamic duo bringing equal parts charisma, caffeine, and charm to KCTV5’s 9 a.m. hour.
Konicki, a Wichita native and proud Jayhawk by proximity, spent 15 years at the CBS affiliate before heading east to call KC home. A self-proclaimed film buff with a knack for finding the fun in every story, he’s swapped out a 3 a.m. morning alarm for a 6 a.m. wake-up call—and loves every minute of it.
Arnold, meanwhile, is an Emmy-nominated host, producer, and creative force of nature. After launching and leading lifestyle shows from Springfield to Indianapolis, she’s back in Missouri doing what she does best: creating connections, celebrating local life, and making television sparkle.
We sat down with the two My KC Live! co-hosts between segments to pepper them with our sub-par questionnaire. We also learned how to make a flan, redecorate upholstery, and master karate kicks during that hour. Bless.
The Pitch: You can introduce any band or performer to the stage. Who you choosin’?
Kerrigan Arnold: This shouldn’t come as a surprise, but I would love to introduce Taylor Swift and her band to the stage. How iconic! I grew up writing songs, and Taylor was who I looked up to a lot during that time, so I think that would be fun.
If not her, then Chappell Roan—who performed on the first lifestyle show I ever worked on, Ozarks Live!
Shane Konicki: Just because they were a huge part of my high school experience, My Chemical Romance. The Black Parade was pretty rad. And if I was introducing them, that means they got back together, which would rule.
Answer the age-old question: malt or milkshake?
Arnold: Malt because my milkshake has never brought any boys to my yard. Is this why I’m single?
Konicki: Depends on the situation. Milkshake, if I’m just sippin’. Malt, if I’m doin’ a little dippin’—like with some French fries.
If you were a clothing line, what clothing line would you be?
Konicki: Probably a line of pants for dogs. I know this is probably not where this question is supposed to go, but I don’t know a ton of clothing lines because I’m pretty fashion-challenged.
You could literally call them dog pants—and have the logo be a dog panting. Now I’m wondering how you show that. Gimme a couple of months.
Name a cereal you could eat every day for the rest of your life.
Arnold: Honey Bunches of Oats with the strawberries.
I used to come home from waitressing in high school and would fill an entire popcorn bowl with that cereal, sit crisscross-applesauce on the kitchen counter, and pretty much black out until the bowl was empty.
Bonus 5th Question: What’s your favorite holiday?
Arnold: I would say, New Year’s Eve. I love the feeling of new beginnings. Also, I could say Valentine’s Day because that’s my birthday. Double whammy. But unfortunately, I think it’s a curse—so we’ll stick with NYE.
Konicki: It’s a tie between Christmas and the 4th of July! Christmas for obvious reasons: all the games, fun, family.Independence Day for the hot dogs, beer, and panicked fuse lighting.
