Waifs of the Week: Juanita, Stormi, and a chill guinea pig named Smores

Waifs of the Week is a collaboration between The Pitch and the local animal shelter Wayside Waifs. Over at 3901 Martha Truman Road, this ‘no kill’ shelter is constantly working to find loving homes for animals, including dogs, cats, and a host of other intriguing additions to your family.

If you’re not in a position to adopt but want to help out with the cause, or just spend more time with furry friends, several members of The Pitch team volunteer at Wayside and we cannot overstate how stellar that process has been for our own brain chemistry.

Purrs to meet you, I’m Juanita!

I’m a 2-year-old Siamese with a sweet, melodic meow that really comes alive when I spot a Churu treat! I’m a little shy at first, but once I get to know you, I have so much love to give. I adore being near people, especially during mealtime! I’m a social eater who loves sharing the experience with my favorite humans. I’m curious and clever, so mentally stimulating activities are a must for me! Watching videos, exploring new toys, or solving little puzzles keeps me happy and engaged. I’ll need a quiet home where I can feel safe and take my time to adjust. I’ll also need extra patience as I warm up to a new environment. Because I’m a sensitive, thoughtful girl, I’d do best with a cat savvy adopter and a household with kids aged 6 and up. I just like to know everyone will respect my space, you know? If you have a calm, loving home and are ready to give a shy but affectionate girl all the time and care she needs, I’ll be the sweetest companion you could ask for! Learn more about me here.

Hi there, I’m Stormi!

I’m a sweet 7-month-old cattle dog with a big personality, a curious mind, and plenty of energy to spare! I’m at that fun stage where I’m learning and growing every day, and I can’t wait to find a family who’s ready to join me on all of life’s adventures. I’m a smart girl who already knows a few commands like “sit” and “shake”, and I’m eager to keep learning more, especially when there are treats involved. True to my cattle dog nature, I love to stay active. Hiking, exploring, playing with toys (especially my stuffies), and getting some good exercise are some of my favorite ways to spend the day. Even though I enjoy being near people, I also have an independent side. I’m perfectly content doing my own thing sometimes. I like to think of myself as a confident, self-assured girl who knows how to balance fun and focus. Once I trust you, though, I’ll be your loyal companion through it all!
