Fitz & The Tantrums, back in town on their Man On The Moon tour, brought the kind of infectious, high-energy pop-soul that has defined their decade-plus career. A flood of violet and cyan lights washed over the stage as Fitz & The Tantrums appeared, launching into the songs from their 2025 album Man on the Moon.

From the first beat, the crowd was in sync with the band and the infectious energy. Michael “Fitz” Fitzpatrick, clad in his signature slim-fit blazer and white sneakers, jumped and danced all around the stage as Noelle Scaggs radiated charisma and vocal firepower, her tambourine slashing through the rhythms like punctuation marks. The duo’s chemistry was electric.

Midway through the set, Fitz took a moment to shout out the Kansas City crowd: “We always say this, but damn! You guys bring it. Every. Single. Time.” As the night went on, the energy only intensified with their feel-good, stomp-along tracks. Nothing matched the collective explosion that came when the band launched into “HandClap” for the encore.

Ax and the Hatchetmen opened for Fitz and The Tantrums Thursday night with a confident, high-energy set that proved their dedication to their music. They’re an indie rock, jazz, and funk meets heavy guitar, layered horn arrangements, and sharp bass. Each band member locked in, the performance crisp and well-rehearsed, with each note perfected. By the end of their 35-minute set, they had clearly earned Truman’s attention, leaving to genuine cheers.
