Photos: Kansas City Mavericks let New Year’s Eve high-scoring spectacle slip through the creases
The Kansas City Mavericks hosted the Wichita Thunder in a New Year’s Eve matchup on the ice, falling short in a 4-3 shootout. It was a pretty stagnant first period until the Thunder scored with just 20 seconds left in the slot. The Mavericks answered back in the second with two goals coming from Casey Carreau and Cam Morrison. Wichita responded with a goal of their own, which was quickly followed by another Mavs goal from Jackson Berezowski. However, this would be the last time the Mavericks found the back of the net, with Wichita taking the lead in the final period to close the game out at 4-3. The Mavericks host the Allen Americans on Friday, Jan. 3, hopeful to get back on track.
