Creature Feature is The Pitch’s weekly profile on a local animal looking for adoption. Shelters and support in Kansas City and the surrounding region are often pushed to the breaking point, so picking one future companion to highlight is how we want to put them on your radar. But there are far more than we could ever fit into our pages. Some of the frequent resources and groups we work with—who also have hundreds of other furry friends to flip through—include Great Plains SPCA, Olathe Animal Shelter, The Pet Connection, All Paws & Pals Play and Stay, Pleasant Hill Animal Control, Pawportunities, Wayside Waifs, Midwest Animal Resq, Pawsperity, Wild Souls Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation, Humane Society Pet Food Pantry, KC Action For Animals, and Pet Resource Center of KC. For more resources like these, and for everything that help people with their needs too, check out The Pitch’s Community Resource Guide.

Here’s this week’s Creature Feature:

Meet Winnie—the longest-term shelter resident at Pleasant Hill Animal Control. This sweet girl has been waiting far too long for her forever home. She is a 40 lb., one-year-old shepherd mix that has practically grown up in the shelter. She loves kids, people, and other dogs. Her favorite things involved all of the classics: playing with toys, snuggling up, splashing in water, car rides, and, of course, treats.

She’s gentle, affectionate, and ready to be the perfect family dog. While she has not been tested around cats, she seems unbothered by them.  Please contact Pleasant Hill Animal Control at 816-540-9109 or on their website to meet this wonderful pup today!
