Kei Kamara leaving Sporting KC for Norwich City?

Update: Sporting KC announced that it has loaned Kamara to Norwich City through May 6 pending the authorization of his work permit. Sporting will receive two-thirds of the “substantial” loan fee, and if Norwich City doesn’t acquire Kamara on a full transfer by May 6, he can return and play for Sporting immediately.
Kei Kamara may be trading in his light-blue jersey for a yellow and green shirt. The Norwich Evening News broadcast earlier today that the popular striker for Sporting Kansas City is reportedly set to sign with Norwich City. The Evening News suggested that the deal is only contingent on Kamara securing a work permit to play in England. As The Daily Wiz reports, Josh Gardner, a newly acquired Sporting defender, seemed to confirm during last night’s MLSSoccer.com live stream of Kansas City’s second preseason game that Kamara is headed abroad. During the broadcast, Gardner said Sporting will miss “Kei a little bit with his size” and “with Kei leaving.”
Kamara is one of the hands (his signature move is to place both hands together in the shape of a heart) and faces of Sporting KC. He’s the local team’s most consistent goal scorer and likely the only player who has his own custom Chipotle card.
The challenge with having success in Major League Soccer is that other leagues and teams with often deeper pockets take notice. If Kamara leaves, he will be the second player lost to a British squad in the past few months. Midfielder Roger Espinoza was signed by the Premier League’s Wigan Athletic (where it appears his nonstop motor is starting to win over the locals).
