Photos: KC Current’s undefeated streak comes to an end against the Orlando Pride

On Saturday, June 7, the KC Current took it’s first loss of the season against the Orlando Pride, snapping a 10-5-0 record. Coming into the game on Saturday night, Kansas City and Orlando sat atop of the NWSL standings, creating high anticipation for their July meetup—even SNL‘s Heidi Gardner made an appearance at the game . Orlando was the first to score, with a goal coming from Barbra Banda in the 37 minute. Temwa Chawinga was quick to answer back with a goal in minute 39 to level the score, and in the 42 minute, Carrie Lawrence received a red card, leaving Orlando with just ten women on the field. But, in the 63 minute, Marta scored a goal off of a penalty shot for The Pride, propelling them to a 2-1 victory against The Current. The Current look forward to their next matchup against Orlando Pride on Sept. 13, with hopes of etching a 1-1 record against The Pride this season.
