Vine Street Brewing Co., Missouri’s first Black-owned brewery, will celebrate its first anniversary on Sunday, June 30, with the “Hoppy Anniversary” festival. The event is free to attend and open to the public.

The festival will be held at the brewery in the historic 18th & Vine Jazz District from noon to 9 p.m., with food provided by WingStand and Frios Gourmet Pops. Kansas City-based DJ Cquence will play a golden age hip-hop set from 3 – 6 p.m., followed by more live music by the Rob Trib Trio until the festival’s end.

As another way of commemorating its first anniversary, Vine Street Brewing Co. announced the release of three exclusive beers. “Jewel Box Revue” (a collaboration with The Big Rip Brewing Co.) is described as a cold IPA brewed with lager yeast, and rife with tropical flavors. “Paper’d Up” is a double IPA containing Eukanot, Mandarina Bavaria, HBC 1019, and Amarillo hops. Finally, Ameri’Kana (a collaboration with the youth music program, Art as Mentorship) is a sour ale featuring mango and pineapple flavors.

In addition to Sunday’s festival, Vine Street Brewing Co. recently announced “Hip-Hop’s Hooray,” another music festival that will be held by the brewery on October 25 – 26. The fall festival will feature 25+ local, regional, and national craft beer brands, plus music, performance art, and educational panels. Guests at Sunday’s “Hoppy Anniversary” event can purchase early bird tickets at a discounted price.

Vine Street Brewing Co. was one of the Pitch’s picks for our 2023 Best of KC issue, and was voted “best new brewery” by the community the same year.
