Here is your weekly roundup of the best food and drink offerings around Kansas City. Cheers!

Opening

City Barrel Pizza + Patio: City Barrel’s second location is now open. A Grand Opening ceremony will be this Friday at 3 p.m. While the original City Barrel in Crossroads is known for beer and an open-concept kitchen, the new location lies right between Brookside and Waldo and specifically features pizza. Our writer, Jordan Baranowski, shared a preview last fall.

Axios Bistro: Axios, a well-established French bistro in the Crestwood Shops, has now opened a second location in Park Place. The Leawood location features a patio in addition to inside dining and free parking in the Park Place garage.

June 27

KC Doner: Indulge in authentic Turkish flavors at KC Doner. The brand new pop-up will be serving at the Lenexa Public Market from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. on June 27, and again July 5 – 7. Doner is a Turkish dish consisting of tender meat shaved off a vertical rotisserie, then served in a tortilla with onions, parsley, and Turkish spices. Turkish coffee, plus vegan and vegetarian food options are also available.

Boulevard Tours & Rec: Boulevard is hosting a Pints for Pride event in the Beer Hall from 5 – 8 p.m. This free event does not require tickets or reservations and benefits KC Pride Community Alliance. In addition to imbibing with Boulevard favorites, shop a mini-maker fair featuring LGBTQ+ makers and join in decorating a mini-pride float.

The Farmhouse: The iconic River Market brunch spot is opening for a special dinner: Farm to Fire Dinner Experience at 6:00 p.m. Savor a multi-course farm-to-table feast featuring local, sustainably sourced ingredients for just $55 per person. Enjoy live music and a full-service bar with hand-crafted cocktails in an intimate setting with the fine service that The Farmhouse is known for.

Va Bene Italian Eatery: Prairie Village’s Va Bene and VinZant Wines are collaborating for a Wine Dinner at 6:30 p.m. For $55, each person will enjoy a four-course dinner featuring dishes like grilled octopus, prosciutto and ricotta-filled cappelletti, and a goat cheese tart. Each course is paired with exceptional wines to enhance each dish.

Café Cà Phê: Starting at 11 a.m., Café Cà Phê is partnering with Columbus Park neighbors Lily Floral Design and Just Swoon for Pride Day! The event will feature free photos from Lauj Booth (you’ll never look better!), plus a featured drink, cookies, and queen vendors. At Hotel Kansas City, nestled between the Music Hall and Midland Theatre, The Town Co. is bringing back the BBQ BONANZA on July 4. Starting at 7 p.m., diners will enjoy a family-style meal of Glazed Pork Spare Ribs, BBQ Pulled Pork, BBQ Beef Brisket, Jamaican Jerk Chicken Thighs, classic side dishes, and dessert.
