Mattel Adventure Theme Park announces Bonner Springs location with Barbie, Hot Wheels attractions
Mattel Adventure Park will be coming to Kansas City, Kansas, and hopes to break ground later this year. Through a licensing partnership with Epic Resort Destinations, Mattel Adventure Park has announced Bonner Springs, Kansas as their next theme park location.
“We are proud and excited to announce Kansas City, Kansas, as the second themed entertainment destination location for Mattel Adventure Park,” President of Epic Resort Destinations Mark Cornell said in a press release. “We are bringing Mattel’s powerhouse brands to life through state-of-the-art technology and engaging experiences. This new destination is sure to provide infinite fun for the whole family.”
With construction already underway on the first Mattel Adventure Park in Glendale, Arizona, Kansas City will mark the second location for the up-and-coming amusement park. The new park will feature the same highly-anticipated attractions of the Glendale park including:
- Hot Wheels themed roller coasters
- Thomas & Friends themed rides and attractions for younger visitors
- Barbie Beach House complete with a Barbie Dream Closet and Rooftop restaurant and bar
- A Mattel themed 18-hole mini golf course, inspired by classic Mattel games like Magic 8 Ball and Pictionary
- Kerplunk Drop tower
Many of the attractions will utilize incredible feats of technology and bring new experiences to the world of theme parks. The Barbie Beach House will feature an interactive retail experience “where fans can build their customized Barbie sets in the Barbie Dream Closet Experience, which uses hologram technology to bring Barbie to life.”
The Kansas City location aims to open in 2026. However, opening pushbacks have already been seen with the Glendale location. Originally set to fully open later this year, Glendale will now have a soft opening in 2024, with a later grand opening in 2025.
“Mattel Adventure Park Kansas City will bring our iconic brands to life with epic roller coasters, family-friendly attractions, an immersive theatre, themed dining, and so much more,” Chief Franchise Officer at Mattel Josh Silverman said in a press release. “We are thrilled to expand these themed entertainment destinations and invite new fans to experience the world of Mattel in all new ways as they create lasting memories with loved ones.”
