We tried to rank 20 locally available edibles, but in the process we forgot how numbers work
Don't worry. We're pretty sure this still makes sense.
Edibles are not for everyone. And even those that like them, probably have at least one story about a bad experience.
My horror story involves eating two 1,000mg brownies in Los Angeles, where I was living at the time. A friend of mine Venmo’d me the money to buy the brownies, on the condition that I agreed to film myself after I ate them. It was the anticipation that killed me. I started waiting for what was going to happen, growing increasingly nervous as time passed. I decided to smoke a joint, thinking it would help calm me down. Bad idea.
I then I slept for 14 hours. That was it. In the years since, I have really developed a taste and tolerance for edibles. I take Cymbalta everyday, but I think the 100mg I eat on a daily basis are what really help me handle my anxiety and depression.
All of the edibles on this list are products that make me more productive and creative, but individual results may vary. If you aren’t an edible person, you should always start with a smaller dose because you can always eat more, not less. A common mistake for many.
Narrowing this list down to 20 products was harder than I thought, and also a testament to what a wide variety of edibles we have in Missouri. I easily could have come up with a 20 worst edibles, but we should celebrate the positive. Also, hopefully at some point it will be easier for small businesses to get into the edibles game, as it is primarily controlled by the same few rich white dudes with different LLC’s.
Until then, eat the ’em if you’ve got ‘em.
I don’t drink anymore but I still like to make bad decisions. These cinnamon flavored gummies are the perfect combination of Hot Tamales and windshield wiper fluid that I remember.
FECO stands for ‘full extract cannabis oil’ which means it’s not just made from oil but all parts of the plant and is highly concentrated. This makes for a nice body high and each gummy is 25mg which allows you to dose yourself how you see fit. I recommend eating 50mg at a time.
I’m not big on Good Day Farms but these single 100mg gummies are clutch for when you have to go to a screening of Kung Fu Panda 4 or the Mark Wahlberg dog movie. They are bigger and more dense than the other single 100mg gummies in the market, but they are consistent.
At 100mg a gummy, you get your value with these compact edibles. The little gummy squares are sticky and have a ‘your college roommate made these’ texture, but the effects far out weigh the slightly unpleasant taste.
Atta makes an above average gummy with a wide variety of flavors. I wish they came in higher doses so I didn’t have to eat the entire pack, but if you’re looking for smaller doses of gummies, you can’t go wrong with any Atta flavor.
I have been consistently surprised with Green Light’s gummies. Every flavor I’ve tried has tasted great and gotten me high. What else can you ask for? The Cherry Limeade and Orange are my go-to’s.
I wrote about this previously when I ate an entire bar and saw a KC Current game. Go Current!
Cheeba Chews are in other markets, and these are just like the ones I remember eating in California. There are indica, sativa, hybrid, sleepy time, and energy varieties. I love the lemon meringue, but you can’t go wrong the classic—it’s just like a Tootsie Roll.
These mini chocolate bars are incredibly delicious and pack a punch at 100mg a square. Why don’t they sell these at AMC?
These have all the fun of popping pills, but just provide you with a gentle THC high. They even fit perfectly in a Tic Tac container, I would imagine.
Robhots were one of the first in the market and I love their variety. The sours are my favorite of theirs, and with these 1,000mg container, you can eat 100mg a day for 10 days. Highly recommend if you can bear it.
I have so many empty containers of these that I need to get rid of because they make me sad when I’m out. This is another 100mg gummy but the dewberry tastes like a blue Icee, making them dangerously delicious.
These are the best tasting Legos that will get you high in the market. On that, you have my word.
I recommend ordering these online at the dispensary ahead of time so you don’t have to say “plumeberry” out loud. This is a superior version of the Good Day Farms BIG AF gummy. It’s smaller and tastier.
This is hands down the best THC beverage you can buy in Missouri. And it’s a legendary KC local brand, which is even cooler.
This taste heavily of distillate and the flavors are colors, but I promise you the effect is what you want from an edible.
These 100mg bouncy-ball looking gummies have saved my life on numerous occasions. I’m a Winstead’s Cherry Limeade addict, so this is my go-to flavor. The strawberry habanero has a real fun kick.
This is a chocolate bar that tastes exactly like a PB&J AND it gets you high. Do I need to say more?
These have the best texture of any gummy in the market, and they look like little gold bars, which makes me feel like I’m in The Italian Job when I pick them up in my Mini Cooper.
Christopher Elbow makes the best chocolate in Kansas City. If you’ve had his bonbons before, then you are aware of their magic. Well, these taste just like those, yet they have THC. They are very mildly dosed too. A six pack is only 50mg, making each tasty bonbon less than 10mg.
