Here is your weekly roundup of the best food and drink offerings around Kansas City. Cheers!
Something New
Saltwell Farm Kitchen: After a temporary shut-down to repair fire damage, Saltwell Farm Kitchen is back up and running! They are accepting reservations for their new winter menus, which feature a generously portioned five-course farm-to-table experience with dishes inspired by Chef Rozz’s Sicilian family roots.
Rieger & Co.: If you’re gift shopping for a spirit enthusiast, J. Rieger & Co. has a couple fun ideas I recently came across. The Old Fashioned Kit is an activity, beverage, and gift all in one, and the Rocks Glass Candle set is a unique gift- each candle comes in a reusable rocks glass to use when the candle burns out.
Tom’s Town: For loyal fans of Tom’s Town Distillery, the new VIP Club may be for you. The free Standard tier includes discounts and freebies, but the VIP Club tier costs $28/month and includes $35 in Tom’s Town credit each month, plus BOGO drinks, tours, and more.
Hanukkah treats: The deadline is approaching for preordering goodies for Hanukkah celebrations. Sweet Petites in River Market has cookie options available, as does Dolce Bakery in Prarie Village and Swoon Cookies with a couple locations for pickup. Sugar Mama KC offers interactive melty cocoa bombs, and Hanukkah preorders close on December 1.
Opening
Billie’s Grocery: A second location of Billie’s Grocery opens this Saturday at 95th and Mission Road. Saturday’s hours are 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. It’s a great spot for whole-food gourmet treats and nourishing meals. If you’re not sure what to try, check out Lauren Textor’s recent write up!
Teetasty Foods: New to Southwest Trafficway in KCMO is Teetasty, a traditional Nigerian restaurant. The menu features appetizers, soups, jollof rice entrees, plus specials on Fridays through Sundays. There is a grand opening celebration on December 1 from 2 – 1o p.m.
Char Bar: A new Parkville location of Char Bar opens November 30. In addition to barbeque and a beer garden with outdoor games, this Char Bar location also features indoor pickleball courts! Reservations are available for dining and pickleball play, as well as an introductory pickleball class!
November 30
Kanbe’s Market: From 7 – 9 p.m. on the 15th floor of Hotel Kansas City, Kanbe’s Market invites you to the swankiest fundraiser cocktail party. The Season of Giving soiree celebrates a Kanbe’s Markets milestone: 50 store locations in 2023! Tickets are $60 for the event and include cocktails and small bites, plus an afterparty at Nighthawk.
The Roost: From 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. The Roost is throwing a Holiday Sip-n-Shop and Food Drive. The Mass St. brunch spot is a favorite in the community, and it’s opening up special evening hours for this event benefitting the Ballard Center. Pitch favorite, Cunntry Legends, will be among the many pop-up vendors.
Sayonara Social Club: Farewell in KCMO is partnering with Spicy Moon Foods for an intimate dinner with entertainment from Internet Friends. Tickets are $35 and include a three-course meal and one cocktail, with additional drinks available for purchase.
December 1
Café Cà Phê: Starting at 8 a.m., Café Cà Phê is releasing beautifully packaged, giftable Vietnamese coffee kits. Priced at $70, the kit includes a custom-engraved Phin from Vietnam, makings for Vietnamese-style coffee such as condensed milk, Nguyen Coffee Supply Beans, and Chiobani oat milk, plus stickers and other goodies. They are expected to sell out.
KC Wineworks: Winter Wine-derland Cocktail Experience returns to KC Wineworks in Crossroads. Running from December 1 through January 27, no reservations are required for this family-friendly cozy pop-up space. Mocktails, wine, wine-based cocktails, and food options are available. Also of note, they are hosting Midwest Matchmaking for a singles event on December 13 for ages 45-60!
December 2
Servaes Brewing Co.: In downtown Shawnee, Servaes is throwing a holiday open house with pop-up vendors and special offers. From 12 – 4 p.m., try a festive self-guided beer and cake ball pairing, and take home a 12 Beers of Christmas box if you want to keep the fun going.
December 3
Henry’s Upstairs: Henry’s in Lawrence is hosting a holly jolly Eggs & Legs Drag Brunch with seatings at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. $20 tickets are not required, but are recommended to save your seat.
Plan Ahead
Ombra: On December 13, Ombra at Briarcliff is putting on a coursed dinner to celebrate the past, present, and future of their food and drink concepts. Tickets for An Ombra Carol are $75 for the dinner, with an optional $30 drink package.
