Joshua Henges, Kyle Hollins announced as 2023 Pinnacle Prize winners
Today, the Pinnacle Prize announced its 2023 winners, Joshua Henges and Kyle Hollins.
Established in 2021, local philanthropists Ann and Kenneth Baum created the Pinnacle Prize as a way to invest in young leaders under the age of 40 that are passionate about tackling critical social issues within the Kansas City area. Each year, two individuals are awarded $100,000, no strings attached, to further make an impact in the community.
In his role as Kansas City’s Homelessness Prevention Coordinator, Joshua Henges works to create and implement community wide strategies to assist those that are at risk of houselessness and those currently experiencing it. While working with the Veterans Community Project, Henges successfully helped 100 veterans transition to permanent housing. In addition to working to reduce houselessness, he also works to reduce generational poverty.
Kyle Hollins is the founder of the nonprofit organization, Lyrik’s Institution. Through his nonprofit work, Hollins seeks to address the root causes of the challenges young adults face that can lead to gang involvement, incarceration, and drugs. Harnessing his affinity for highlighting individuals’ creative passions, Hollins helps young adults gain real-world experience through internships that lead to creative careers within the workforce.
“Kyle and Josh embody the spirit of commitment to transforming our community that Ann and Kenny Baum intended to celebrate when they founded the Prize,” says Maurice Watson, spokesperson for The Pinnacle Prize.” “Through their work, they’re committed to improving the quality of life for all Kansas Citians. Their leadership serves as an inspiration and a testament to the transformative power of individuals who are dedicated to strengthening our community from within.”
