New Year’s Eve is a night of high expectations, higher costs — those prix fixe meals can be pricey — and, often, highest drinking. But the last night of 2015 is like no other and deserves special treatment. Here’s a rundown of restaurants around the metro offering food and drink specials for December 31.
Affäre

Chef Martin Heuser is offering a three-course prix fixe meal (from among three entrée choices) for $75 a person.
The American
200 East 25th Street, 816-545-8001
The American offers six seating times, starting at 5:30 p.m. Chef Michael Corvino plans a seven-course tasting menu priced at $145 per person (excluding taxes, gratuity and beverages). A standard wine pairing features sparkling, white and red vintages for $75 a person (or, for $105, a premium champagne).
Anton’s

Reservations are required for the prix fixe prime-rib dinner for two and midnight champagne toast, for $80 a couple. Wine or beer pairings are available for an additional charge. Also, expect a DJ.
The Belfry

The Belfry gives revelers the opportunity to sample a prix fixe “Beer, Burgers and Bourbon” meal featuring craft beer, a burger bar and a choice of four whiskey flights. Prices range from $75 to $150 per person. The restaurant opens at 4 p.m.
Bluestem

A seven-course meal — priced at $145 per person — is served during seatings at 6 and 8:30 p.m., in the dining room only. Wine pairings cost an additional $55. The lounge offers the regular menu.
Ça Va

Since midnight comes earlier in Paris, this bistro toasts the new year on French time — at 5 p.m. For those wanting to ring in the traditional midnight celebration, Ça Va (featuring a DJ, balloon drop and champagne toast) is taking reservations. Food specials include lobster bisque, cromesquis de foie gras, king crab legs and truffle frites. Pastry specials include niche de noel and croquembouche.
Charisse

Chef Jason Craine’s French bistro serves a four-course prix fixe dinner for $65 per person. Wine pairings are also available.
Extra Virgin

Extra Virgin will have its regular menu plus an optional four-course tasting menu for $55.
The Farmhouse

The Farmhouse serves its regular menu, plus two or three special entrées.
The Grille at Park Place

The Grille at Park Place features New Year’s Eve festivities on the restaurant’s rooftop beginning at 8 p.m. The $65 party features an open bar from 10 p.m. to midnight, an appetizer buffet and a champagne toast.
Grünauer

Grünauer offers its regular menu and additional dinner specials. “We try to be a safe haven,” says bar manager Scott Beskow.
Il Lazzarone

Two options are available: Prosecco for two, which includes one bottle of Clara C Fiori di Prosecco and two pizzas for $25, or a Nonino tasting for $35 that features one pizza and a flight of Nonino grappas (Moscato, Chardonnay and Merlot) and Quintessentia Amaro Nonino.
iPho Tower

Spike and Jessie Nguyen host a New Year’s Eve celebration at their Vietnamese bistro, with a prix fixe four-course meal: a choice of starter, Shaken Beef as the entrée and tiramisu for dessert — paired with two alcoholic beverages and a bottle of champagne — for $50 a person.
The Jacobson

Look for a “Best of the Jacobson” menu, featuring this venue’s most popular dishes and a few dinner specials. The kitchen will stay open until midnight.
Julep

Le Fou Frog

Le Fou Frog is lively, no matter the day. But for New Year’s Eve, co-owner Barbara Rafael says the French restaurant will have “a special printed menu of all our favorite dishes.” Live entertainment begins at 10:30 p.m.
