The #PopShitChallenge has Kansas City rap Instagram humming

Originally released six months ago, “Pop Shit” is a catchy track cooked up by local producer 1Bounce, featuring muscular verses from Ray Muney, Lil Mal, NBG Welch, and Vonnie. The track’s music video had racked up several thousand views by the end of 2018.
Now, though, the song has gone local-viral, with over 100,000 views, most of them from the last week or so, due to something Bounce invented called the #PopShitChallenge.
It’s simple enough. 1Bounce uploaded the instrumental version of the song to streaming services, allowing for anyone and everyone to record themselves spitting their own verse on top of it and post it to Instagram. As it stands, there are over 1,200 posts on the hashtag, and while many are reposts, there are at least a couple hundred original verses floating around in there.
Standout entries so far include:
–Kye Colors delivering a buttery verse that touches on both getting laid and supporting his mother.
–Telly Tell rapping convincingly about dropping bodies from inside a federal prison.
–Muvalicious’ tales of pulling herself up by her (presumably designer) bootstraps.
–R8chmo just putting bitches on notice, pretty much.
–K Town’s demonstration of how to flow.
–Joey Origami remixing the beat and kicking a hot verse to boot.
