Journeyman Café in West Plaza has closed, will reopen as a sports bar

Sixteen months after debuting in the West Plaza, Journeyman Café has closed. The neighborhood dining and coffee spot will reopen in September, though, with a new concept. Owner Kit Boje explains in a Facebook post

“I have decided to partner with some investors who are in the business and have been very successful. We are going to go with primarily their concept while maintaining some of our style at our location. They run a very clean, very nice upscale sports bar, and are pouring a ton of resources into the space to give us everything we need to succeed. It will be an amazing place to grab a casual bite and catch a ballgame, which is feedback I get from the neighborhood every day as something we are missing.”

Boje says he will stay on as a partner and operator of the business, and that he’ll be retaining the Journeyman staff. Boje hasn’t yet responded to a request for more details about who the new investors are and how the rebranding will affect the food and drink offerings at the location. That’s understandable: The post notes that he is currently away on his honeymoon. We’ll update with more info as it becomes available.

In the meantime, reminisce about the cocktails once served in this spot by reading last year’s Bartender’s Notebook at Journeyman here
