Jack White-blessed outsider country star Margo Price is at Knuckleheads tonight

Singer Margo Price could well be the female Sturgill Simpson. While she sings like Tammy and Dolly, you’re not likely to find her on CMA or in heavy rotation on country stations. She’s the kind of artist who’s experienced the death of a child and buried her sorrows in bottles of booze, gone to jail as a result of it, and emerged again from the darkness. Her debut record, Midwest Farmer’s Daughter, was released on Jack White’s Third Man records, after Price’s drummer hooked her up with White, who had become a fan of Price’s authenticity and sound. Price recently appeared on a revealing episode of WTF with Marc Maron, in which she talked about the struggles that ultimately led to the writing of Midwest Farmer’s Daughter.

She appears tonight with Darrin Bradbury at Knucklehead’s (2715 Rochester Avenue). The show begins at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $15.
